The Noyes OFS 300 from AFL Telecommunications is a versatile Optical Fiber
Scope with precision 200X magnication. This handheld and rugged scope
is used for inspection of optical ber connectors for scratches, dirt, or other
problems normally associated with poor transmission performance.
A built-in laser safety lter provides > 40 dB IR protection to reduce risk of
injury to the eye if accidentally viewing an active ber. The OFS 300 features
a universal adapter cap mount that accepts a variety of Noyes thread-on style
adapter caps to ease inspection of many connector style. A momentary power
switch located on the top panel keeps one hand free for focusing.

The OFS 300 offers 60 hours of
continuous battery life from standard
2 x AA batteries and features an LED
indicator, which will ash when
batteries require replacement.
The standard thread-on adapter caps are used to mate non-angled and
angled single-ber and dual-ber connectors to optical power meter ports on
OPM power meters and OFS inspection scopes.

OWL Installer Series test kits
Many ber optic network bids and Requests For Quote (RFQ) are citing
cabling standards to specify the set of guidelines (such as ber length) that
the network installer must follow during the network installation. Adherence
to such standards is meant to ensure the quality of the installation and
guarantee that the network will perform as it was designed.
The process of testing a network installation to ensure its adherence to
specied standards is called certication, and often requires hardcopy
documentation as proof of adherence to standards. The Installer Series
Quad MM/SM Test Kit contains the tools necessary for certifying ber optic
links against a myriad of cabling standards, including two user-customizable
standards, in both multimode and singlemode networks.
The Micro OWL 2 optical power meter is multimode and singlemode ready,
and contains a user-friendly Fiber Link Wizard that performs link budget
calculation, and sets a reference value using the characteristics of the link.
This reference is the PASS/FAIL threshold and is calculated against the
chosen standard. Up to 1000 ber runs may be stored, and downloaded to a
PC for report generation using our OWL Reporter software. Its universal port
allows connections to ST, SC, and FC, and also includes a 1.25mm universal
port for connection to LC, MU, and other SFF connectors.
The WaveSource Quad ber optic light source contains all four popular
industry-standard wavelengths in a single unit, designed for accurate testing
and certication of multimode (850nm & 1300nm) and singlemode (1310nm
& 1550nm) networks. Its quad-wavelength outputs are temperature-
stabilized for accurate measurements, and are housed in SC connector ports.
